My Top 5 Travel Essentials

I love to travel and since I just got back from a week of traveling I thought I would share my top 5 travel essentials! I am an overall light packer but these are things I can’t travel without. You can view each item by clicking on the underlined name by each number.

#1) Earplanes!! In the past I have always had the worst case of clogged ears every time I flew. Three years ago I discovered Earplanes and my life hasn’t been the same since! These little earplugs are pressure relieving miracles! I pop them in my ears right at take off, take them out when we hit max elevation and put them back in about 30 minutes before landing. I have had zero ear issues since using them and I have recommended them to all of my family and friends! They come in adult and child size and I buy them from my local drug store but you can also find them on Amazon.

#2) Packing cubes!! Y’all….if you haven’t used packing cubes you don’t know what you are missing! A friend told me about them a few years back and I traveled for the first time with them this year. When I first heard about them I didn’t really see the point because I would just roll up my clothes and put them in my suitcase. Now that I have used them I wish I would’ve used them years ago! I was able to organize all of my clothes so perfectly. I had shirts in one cube, pants in another, accessories in one, undergarments in one & pajamas in the last one. It was SO nice to be able to pull out one cube to get to what I needed instead of digging through my entire suitcase. They also helped to keep my clothes compressed and left me plenty of extra room in my suitcase. I purchased these and received 6 cubes for under $30 and they are great!

#3) Jo Totes Missy Mint Bag!! This one is great for all of the photographers out there, or anyone who travels with a camera. This bag holds 5 of my lenses, my external flash, my camera body, extra camera accessories AND my 15 inch Macbook Pro with room to spare. I use this bag as my carry on so that my camera gear and Macbook never leave my sight. It also worked out great for the Hope Taylor Workshop because I had everything I needed all in one bag.

#4) The North Face TriClimate Jacket!! I LOVE my TriClimate jacket. If you are unfamiliar with these, they are 3 jackets all in one! The outer shell is a waterproof, hooded jacket. It is perfect by itself on warm, but rainy days, or paired with the inner jacket on wet & cold days.  The inside jacket is a soft fleece that zips out to wear by itself or attached to make it part of the outer shell. I wear the inner fleece jacket when I just need something to keep me warm indoors or on slightly chilly days. When the two are paired together it keeps me SO warm. This allows me to have 3 jackets all in one for my trip so I don’t have to pack lots of things. I have this one, but The North Face has so many options and colors in this jacket and I think it’s a must have!

#5) Lifeproof Phone Case!! I have used Lifeproof phone cases for many years and I don’t know what I would do without them on trips. Every life proof phone case is waterproof, dirt proof, snow proof and drop proof. I use the FRE case because I like to have the full cover over my screen to protect from scratches, but they also have a fully waterproof, dirt proof, snow proof & drop proof case without the full cover over the glass part of the screen called the NUUD case. I have taken underwater videos with my phone at the beach and pool, gone on hiking adventures, gone river rafting…all with my phone on me. Because of this case my phone always makes it through without a scratch and I have some awesome content to share with family and friends.

Well, those are my top 5 essentials while traveling! I hope you enjoyed reading this blog. Let me know if you use, or try, any of these. I would love to hear what you think!
