So, the day is finally here! I am able to share my very first blog post and I have the BEST first topic….the Hope Taylor 2 Day Workshop!
I have been following Hope for a couple years after seeing her work in the Shoot & Share contest and falling in love with it! I had been wanting to attend one of her workshops for awhile, but things like college, and life in general, always seemed to get in the way. This year is my first year out of college and the first year that I am focusing solely on my photography business so when I heard Hope announce her March workshop I just knew I had to attend. It was Hope’s first 2 day workshop and let me tell you…she absolutely killed it! For those of you that don’t know, I was flying in from Dallas to Fredericksburg, VA to attend the workshop and it was SO worth it.
When we arrived for the first day of the workshop, Hope had all kinds of goodies for us right away. We walked in to donuts, fruit & pumpkin muffins for breakfast, a beautiful gift bag filled with all kinds of things from the wonderful sponsors & LOADS of content to learn.
The first day was all about wedding photography. I was excited to hear what Hope had to say about shooting weddings because I have been in the process of deciding if I want to include shooting weddings in my business. Hope covered everything from working with the bride to plan the timeline, shooting wedding day details, creating a great client experience and more! After going over #AllTheThings we headed out for a beautifully styled shoot. I can’t even begin to describe how gorgeous all of the details were…from the flower petals to the dress, everything was perfection!
The second day was all about senior photography and the business side of things. This was the day I was most excited about because this is the area I have been working in, and am looking to expand in my business. We started out talking about the senior experience and serving clients well, then we covered posing, rep teams & more! After all of that, we headed off to the second day of shooting. The shoot was filled with lots of cotton candy, cupcakes, pink lemonade and best friends!
After everything was finished we headed back to the studio where we learned more of the business side of things like workflow and Hope’s editing process. When all of that was wrapped up we ate pizza so big that the boxes couldn’t fit through the door without being turned sideways and the slices took up TWO plates! During this time Hope answered every single one of our questions. I know all of us learned so much!
I am so thankful to Hope and all of the beautiful girls I met during the workshop who have supported me before, during & after the workshop. This experience was everything I expected and more and I would do it all over again! It was an investment in myself and my business and I couldn’t be more excited to take what I have learned, pour into my business and love and serve my clients well!
